2020 Greatest Hits in Site Furnishing

For a timely blog to cap off an interesting year, we want to take the opportunity to recognize the positives, celebrate the successes, and showcase some of Keystone Ridge Designs’ notable custom manufacturing highlights of 2020.
We have always prided ourselves in being flexible to custom design ideas and made-to-order fabrication. This year has been no different from that respect and amidst everything else, we have maintained our focus on manufacturing safe, durable, creative, and custom site furnishings for the changing needs of today’s public spaces. And the best part is, we got to have a whole lot of manufacturing fun along the way! Read on for the 2020 greatest hits of Keystone Ridge Designs manufacturing.
Bison Build
When we talk about fun, nothing exemplifies that better than when we had the opportunity this summer to build nine giant steel bison statues to ship across the country. With provided specifications, our production team used their manufacturing expertise to build these stately creatures out of weathering steel. Standing about 7 feet tall, they currently graze the fields of a master-planned residential development in Broomfield, CO. This project was so entertaining, we gave it its own Instagram account! @bigassbison
KeyshieldTM Art Creation
In collaborations with a town in Florida and the involved landscape architects, our Reading bench was customized with full-color KeyshieldArtTM graphics to create a truly eye-catching, personalized, and thematic site furniture installation. The KeyshieldArt TM process used for this project fuses the imagery into our powder coating to create vivid and durable displays of color. Additional designs have been created to include horses, cows, and a wooden barrel-themed litter receptacle with future plans to make the graphics interchangeable!
Blooming Bollards
It is not often that bollards get attention in our blogs or social media posts. However, what looked like a colorful bollard garden in our packaging plant actually turned into a creative execution to ensure privacy for residents at a San Diego apartment complex. Three different custom colors and six different specified heights of our Harbor angled bollards were randomized onsite into a playful and aesthetic perimeter security installation.
Coming Full Circle
Perfecting the details of a custom radius bench can be a challenging manufacturing feat. When a gathering circle was needed this fall to create fire pit seating in a campus setting, we were up for the challenge! After fine-tuning the dimensions and layout at our facility, this project at a university in Kentucky came together exactly according to design visions.
Custom Becomes Standard
What started as a custom design for one client also became the perfect fit for another. This modern custom table set installed early this year at a mixed-use development in Fishers, IN integrates a beautiful combination of powder coated steel and Ipe hardwood. The table is a perfect example of how new design inspiration often comes from working on custom ideas with clients. Spoiler alert – you may see this table as a new standard product in 2021!
Memorial Benches
Memorial benches always hold a special place in our hearts. We appreciate that people come to us with their thoughtful and meaningful ideas to celebrate and honor loved ones. This year we saw many instances of stretching our cast bronze plaque and KeyshieldArtTM capabilities to best reflect our clients wishes. Custom sizes, creative fonts, full-color photos and symbolic emblems all have been included in personalized plaque designs to make lasting memorials.
Creekview Preview
In a county of NJ, there is a project currently in the works that will likely be worthy of its own blog in the future. By incorporating intricate laser cut designs and custom colors, our Creekview benches are being uniquely personalized for multiple townships across the region. Add to that customizations to our Carson litter receptacle, Loma lounge, bike racks and more, and this project has all the makings of a great custom site furniture manufacturing story!
It has been quite a year to say the least but we can look back with great pride on our accomplishments and our part in such an innovative industry that constantly rethinks landscape and outdoor design possibilities. We are fortunate for our American manufacturing facilities, our sales team’s consultative expertise, and our design team’s ingenuity to create with purpose. Most importantly, we are thankful for our clients’ dedication to improve public spaces through landscape design and better the communities in which we live, learn, work, and play.
